Personal Information

Born in Thisted on February 7th 1971, grew up mostly in Brande, later Thy. I have two kids that live with my ex-wife just outside Århus, Tobias (3½ years) and Clara (14 months).

I would love to find a job that enable me to move to Århus.

Protocols

HTTP, TCP/IP, SMTP, DNS etc. I know what I need, and if I don’t I learn, it really isn’t that hard in my experience. The hard part is learning to configure software and devices to speak these protocols and do what you want, which brings me to…

Experience

System Administrator at 24-7 Entertainment — Jan 2010

I just started on 2010-01-14, so I’ll add details when the picture is more clear.

System Manager at Preview Networks — Feb 2009 to Jul 2009

System Administrator at TELMORE A/S — Nov 2004 to Jan 2009

Education

Java XML Developer — Aug 2004 to Oct 2004

A course by ITA. Sadly I had to stop because I got hired by TELMORE. The course was scheduled to run until March 2005 + 12 weeks of trainee service.

Microsoft .NET developer course — May 2003 to Jan 2004

A course by SoftAdvice, 28 weeks including 8 weeks of trainee service.

First Semester as “Datamatiker” courses — 2002 and 2003

I took “Basic Programming in C++” and the first part of “System Development” at Niels Brock. I learned the very important basics about database design.

Lab Technician — 1998 to 2001

A year and a half of school in Århus followed by a year of trainee service at Fødevareregion Århus.

Even further back

Graduated with a HF exam in 1994 from Thisted Gymnasium & HF, upgraded it and studied Mathematics and Physics at Århus University from 1994—1998, with a winter of working on the harbour as a carpenter, loosing the tip of my right thumb in an accident with a saw, making me officially 5% handicapped.

Way back when I was 17 to 20 I was trained as a skilled forest worker, then conscribed into the Danish Civil Defence and was trained in first aid in disaster areas and as a firefighter and smokediver. Lots of fun.

Other Less Easily Categorized Facts

Open Source

I am active in the open source movement in Denmark. I used to be on the board of BSD-DK, the Danish BSD User Group, and was a member of the coordination group behind Linuxforum 2003–2005, but since I became a father I’ve stepped down.

Triathlon

I did a lot of Triathlon from 1992–1997, culminating in 3 Ironman distance races in 1994, 1996 and 1997 with a personal best of 10:07:17. Since 2005 I’ve been training again, but “just” marathons now.
