FreeBSD 5.0 was released today after three years of work. It has lots of nice goodies for everyone, and the load on the main FTP server went up to over 200.

Since last thursday this machine has claimed to be "FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASE" and RELENG_5_0 has been tagged for quite a while in CVS. I can only recommend it, it just works, but there's probably many lesser bugs to fix. It's a .0 release, it's less perfect than normal for FreeBSD. Not for production use yet. Caveat emptor.

I've spent today tired and underslept, just squashing minor bugs, fixing spelling, doing some validation and found some more bugs that I don't know what to do about, at least not right now. I kind of overdid it yesterday. I spent around 16 hours straight on the computer, hacking this site together. There's no end to the fun one can have with sh(1), make(1) and m4(1). Goodnight.
