Free music endangered

Apr 20, 2004

When MP3.com were acquired by C|NET they said that all the music would be deleted, effectively erasing a cultural heritage. Even when the Internet Archive offered to host the files for free they didn't change plans. I remember actually finding some pretty good stuff at MP3.com, most of Kosmic Free Music Foundation's artists moved their stuff to MP3.com when their original kfmf.com server went down, at least as far as I remember. I had considered those songs gone, but now GarageBand have legitimate copies, and artists can recover their MP3.com account. Very good news, I always like when the media giants and their henchmen and thugs fail.
