Finally, FreeBSD 5.3 (and the 5-STABLE branch) is released. On the frontpage of FreeBSD.org there's now two “Production Releases” listed, 5.3 and 4.10. I wonder how long it will take for the 4.x branch to disappear from that list.
Sun also released the SCSL source code for Java version 5.0, it's yours for the download. It is also available under a “Java Research License”, which might be interesting to some people. Java source code licensing is a delicate balancing act for Sun with many stakeholders and interests involved. I wish they would relax the terms, but I understand why they don't.
Now I just wait, impatiently, for the first testable versions of the
native JDK 5.0 for FreeBSD
