Towel Day

May 25, 2005

Today is the international Towel Day, a tribute to, and in rememberance of Douglas Adams, one of the really original writers of our time. If you haven't read anything by him you're missing out on something essential. But since you're reading this you probably aren't — or I just don't know who my readers are.

Apart from “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” everyone should read all of the Dirk Gently novels about the detective Dirk Gently (surprise) who among other things navigate by following the first car he sees that seem to know where it's going and then hope he'll arrive, and he's convinced he will because of some quantum mechanical explanation that I've forgotten.

Unfortunately I didn't discover that today was special before it was too late, so I didn't bring my towel to work, but I will attend todays BSD-DK Happy Hacking evening with my towel.
