Just to follow up on the fine Java is the SUV of programming tools link from last thursday there's a book review of Beyond Java over at Slashdot.

At one point I wanted to rewrite all of my website in Java and do all kinds of nice things with it, but after I started looking at how much annoying and completely irrelevant work one had to do just for a “Hello, world!” equivalent webpage with a database backend I pretty much gave up. It's a total waste of time for all but really large scale stuff.

Beyond Java seems to confirm that gut feeling of mine. And Ruby on Rails is where it's at.
