Earlier this evening I got the well known “New version available” message from the Garmin ANT Agent, version 2.1.2 was ready.
After the upgrade I couldn’t download from my Forerunner 405 CX anymore. I tried to delete and then re-pair with the device, which happens to delete the cached data in
~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Devices/<DEVICEID>/History by the way, so be careful if you have a use for that (I have). I tried to reboot. I tried resetting the Forerunner watch. I tried un- and re-plugging the ANT Stick and some more rebooting and re-pair’ing, and nothing worked.
Finally I found
~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Garmin ANT Agent/tmp/GarminANTAgent210.dmg, the old version that had worked before, installed that, rebooted, and disabled automatic checks for updates in the Garmin ANT Agent preferences. And now, finally, it worked.
It seems 2.1.2 is a dud on Mac, at least for me, I’m on the latest version of Mac OS X, 10.5.7. I’m not going to upgrade before the next version of Garmin ANT Agent comes out, and now I know how to roll back, which is always nice.
