On April 1st Hetzner announced support for FreeBSD 8.2. And that was not yet another April fools joke, FreeBSD is still listed as an option. It takes guts to announce anything which is not a lie on April 1st, and Hetzner have it. I like that.

So sometime during next weekend this site will be down for a few hours while I upgrade from Ubuntu to FreeBSD.

Even though I’ve worked with Linux professionally, and really like it for that, I still feel really good about FreeBSD for a personal server like this. It’s so comfortable and nice. I hope the Hetzner support for it is good, and that it’s not unstable for weird reasons because the Xen support in FreeBSD is still not the most heavily tested part of FreeBSD.
